YEAR BY YEAR
1997...
CLUBLIFE:
all activity records were beaten.
- 100 activities in
Belgium, 21 abroad, that's an average of 2,3 per weekend!
BELGIUM
- The "Grotte des
Emotions" reaches 2 km. Cave diver Luc Funcken passes the
final sump: the cave continues!
- In the "Chantoir
Dellieux" we move a few small boulders, at the right spot...
it is the beginning of yet another adventure. An important
part, totaling 615 m in length and 80 m in depth is found: the
"Réseau de la Topo Foutue". The Weron-Dellieux
System nows reaches 3600 m. in total length.
- Numerous weekends are
spent in the Chawresse cave, in one of our digs called "the
Bolero". It yields only 30 metres of cave.
- A fruitful cooperation is
started with two members of caving club Persephone.
Together we continue their exploration of a new part in the
"Grotte du Bois de Waerimont". The very last day
of the year, we discover hundreds of metres of beatifully
decorated rooms and galleries: the "Réseau du Nouvel
An".
FOREIGN
CAVING
-
Unforgettable week in the French Pyrenees, where we visit the
most beautiful cave in France; the 32 km long "Réseau
Lachambre". We also ascend the Mont Canigou (2784 m).
- We go caving in the french
Doubs (Montaigu, -385 m) and we stay 10 days in the french
Herault (Aven du Grelot, Garrel etc.).
- Summer holidays: 3 weeks
in the Pierre-St-Martin area; where (for the first time) we go
"exploring" new caves. We continue the
exploration of two known caves: the 711 m deep Anialarra System
(Pozo Estella), and the Gouffre Gaspi (-285m). Near the end
of our stay, we discover a new cave with a gigantic pitch; the
Pozo de los Ninos (AN506). We just have the time to make
one short trip; going down this new big pitch will be something
for next year.
