November 1983...
 
 CLUBLIFE
- November 1983: an Antwerp caving club named "Avernus"
is born. It joins the "Arbeiders Toeristen Bond",
a Sociétéalist organisation that groups essentially walking and
hiking clubs, but also a few caving clubs.
- Founder and chairman of the new club is Jacques G.
- Very soon, the club counts 13 members.
BELGIUM
- The young lions, such as Paul De Bie, Marc Verhaert and Marc
Cools quickly acquire a lot of caving skills and rope-techniques,
and every week some Belgian cave is visited. Soon the
caving skills of these young guys are better than those of the
"old" members of the club.... which results in
some slight friction between them.
